Book Reviews of SnuffBook Review: I haven't laughed this hard in a long time! Summary: 5 Stars
I've never read a book by Palahniuk before, but my friend spoke highly of his writing and I caved and bought it. I was leery of reading it at first. I wasn't sure if this would be just a story, or just a story about sex. But it was neither.
There is a mystery (granted I'd figured it out in 10 pages), but as long as you want a book that takes you on a journey it won't let you down. Most of the emotional reasons behind the story are revealed in the end, and how the story played out was a surprise. I think that was the most creative ending to a book...ever. Definitely a keeper, and worthy of an actual effort from the reader.
Book Review: I liked it Summary: 5 Stars
I was surprised to see the mixed negative reviews about this book. This happened to be the first Palahniuk book I read and I haven't been able to stop since. Sure I like some of his other books better but that doesn't mean I don't think this is a really good book.
Book Review: If you love Chuck books, you will love this one!! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is about a porn star/mother that is attempting to break the record of most guys had sex with in one day on video. It's a very interesting and complex story. It shows the points of views from the porn star herself, her assistant, a boy who thinks he is her son, and an aging male porn star. Like I said in the title, if you love Chuck books, this one will surely not let you down.
Book Review: If you're a Chuck fan, just get this book over with. If not, go read Fight Club. Summary: 2 Stars
Snuff is Chuck without purpose. It stirs no thought-provoking ideas in its audience, its characters are bland and one dimensional, and it leaves you feeling wasteful and cheated. The only thing it has going for it is its level of entertainment and its occasional slivers of insight into the porn industry.
So, if you're a Chuck fan, just go ahead and get Snuff over with so you can say you've read it. It's fairly short and should only take you a day or two to knock out. If you're not a die-hard fan of Pahlaniuk, you'd be better off reading Fight Club or Survivor or Invisible Monsters.
Book Review: It was not the best from Chuck Summary: 3 Stars
I am a die-hard fan and will read anything he writes, but Snuff and his last one, Rant, never really did it for me. Interesting, well-researched as always, fun stuff you never knew, but never really climaxed, nor was the twist very fun. If you are not a fan, you probably wouldn't like it.
