Book Review: Disappointing in prose, character development, and story line

Enger does not deliver this time round and should have followed the example of his lead character/narrator and abandoned this work; or, he and his editor should have spent a lot more time polishing the prose, developing the characters, and making a better plot from a story line having unrealized promise. I grimaced throughout at the all-to-frequent well under ten word sentences, the stilted prose and gratuitous insertion of elegant words that clashed with the pedestrian prose. Narrative conversation was jerky and unpleasantly delivered. A lot of possibility which could have been attained with more effort.
