This is a great book! No, not for baby guide you on witch button to press in order to finish a tutorial. That doesn't mean that the book is not for beginners. In fact I think that it is a great book for all kinds of users especially for beginners because it gives you a great guidance on how to make good choices of the tools available in SolidWorks. That in itself helps you save precious time starting from a solid concept and not trying a "what if" approach witch takes time and lead you to bumpy roads. So, instead of taking a risky way of going through books that just guide you trough a sequence of events tutorial, this book gives you what is that you can and can't do with Solidworks. Yes guys there are limits in SolidWorks as any other software. What a great way to start knowing what are those hu? SolidWorks and 3D is not a simple tool to work as marketing says. We need a solid foundation when comes to 3D design and this book definitely gives you that and more.
The author is an engineer and he talks about the limitations and the power of the most used tools in SolidWorks. He shows the weak side and the strong side of SolidWorks in great detail. He explains what each of the different settings in a tool does in great detail. It is a great book for advanced users too because it reminds you about the specifics as to what will work and what is not a so good solution for a specific situation. I use the book as a reference to remember the strength and the weaknesses of the plethora of tools and functions this software have, it's hard to remember all the idiosyncrasies when you have so many options to choose from. This book helps one build fast knowledge in SolidWorks, this way you can better manage your time with choices that lead you to good design.
Great quality paper, the entire book is print in color, great plus because these "bible" series all of them are print on very cheap paper and in black and white. Hey publishers! We are designer! Yes we like color! It has a function for it not only pleasant to the eyes, yes it is a suggestion for you publishers to print all your books like this one!
In summary the book it's a well done summary of the capabilities and limitations of SolidWorks, a must have in your shelf.
Again, it's a great book! You won't regret having it on your desktop for consulting.
