Book Review: Changed my mind on a few things...

I believe Mr Boortz set out to do one thing with this book and that was to make people think.
As you read through you get the feeling Mr Boortz is basically bashing the left wing through the usual talk radio "antagonistic", "go against the popular opinion" methods. But, you might (as I did), find yourself raising an eyebrow to some of his arguments.
His stance is one of patriotism along with a love of healthy competition as a means to bring the best out of people and promote a desire to improve. He makes good cases for his negative view on things such as the minimum wage, public schools and Government intervention in so many things in our lives, taxes, regulation etc etc ...
Punches are not pulled as he describes the American populous as apathetic, disinterested in Government, unmotivated and basically accepting of anything that comes down from the powers that be. He comes across as genuinely intelligent, thoughtful and articulate.
Some of the content is stuff we probably already had thought about but just not to the depth of Mr Boortz. Also, some of the content we probably never really agreed with but we saw a "need" for it. Mr Boortz fixes though simple on paper would require 1) A MASSIVE swing from the norm 2) An absolute confidence boost in all of us insomuch as believing we CAN depend on ourselves. 3) The backing off of Government as they more and more control and regulate our lives.
I enjoyed the tone of the book, the topics covered and his stance that we need to fight back and demand better for ourselves, our children and our country. Our individualism, he claims, is under attack as are our our civil liberties and our motivation to improve. I also grew to like the guy and see him for the patriot he claims to be.
I'd recommend this book as it definitely makes you "think". It's easy to read and follow and could form the basis of some great discussions assuming you find some "interested" parties to discuss with.
