Book Reviews of Someone Like YouBook Review: BEST BOOK EVER!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite book for many reasons. Mainly, because it was VERY well written and the characters are so... believable. When you read this book, you don't want it to end. It's a story of Halley and Scarlett, who have been best friends since they've met. One day, while Halley is at camp, she gets a call from Scarlett saying that her boyfriend, Michael died. Halley makes her mom come and pick her up, even though her mom doesn't want to. See, Halley and her mom were best friends until the summer before and they have slowly been drifting apart. So, they fight a lot, and don't agree on basically anything. Later in the book, Scarlett discovers that she is pregnant with Michael's baby. I won't say anything more, since I don't want to give it away, but a page turner, VERY GOOD. I recommend this book for 11 and up. Oh yea, even though the book was good, the movie, How To Deal, which was based on the book, sucked. Watch it if you want, but it's really not that good... if you don't believe me, read some of the other ones, they say it too!
Book Review: Best Book Ever Summary: 5 Stars
I think this is the best book I've ever read. I hope Sarah Dessen makes a sequel to this book because its such a great book. It deals with best friends Halley and Scarlett, when Scarlett's boyfriend is killed she finds out she is pregnant with his baby. Halley has to be there for Scarlett and also be with her boyfriend Macon.
Book Review: Best book I've read in a while Summary: 5 Stars
This book was really great. It was sad at first and a little slow, then whoa! where did THAT come from? There are surprises with every page you turn. I loved this book sooo much!! MUST read! :)

Ariah C. review of Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen, March 17, 2008
This book is about two girls, Halley and Scarlett, which have been friends since grade school. They have been best friends ever since they met. Halley was quieter and Scarlett was braver and more outgoing. Halley was always close to her mother and told her everything. The summer before her junior year of high school, she began to separate from her mother. She became involved with a boy named Macon, who was friends with Scarlett's boyfriend, Michael. Michael had died in a motorcycle accident. Two months after Michael died; Scarlett had found out that she was carrying his baby. Halley gets into romance with Macon, and experiments with drugs, and alcohol. After romance with Macon, Halley gets in a car crash with him and luckily survives it with only a sprained wrist and a bruised leg. Scarlett decided to keep her baby, which her mother wanted to give up for adoption, and it was a long nine months for her and Halley. Halley really needed to be there for Scarlett, like Scarlett was always there for her. Someone always needs a friend.
Book Review: Dessen at her best Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far my favorite young adult 'best friends' book, along with Summer Sisters (which was marketed for adults but is mostly about young adults). I loved how open and honest Halley and Scarlett were with eachother, and that they loved each other unconditionally and non-judgmentally, even though they each did make some poor decisions. It's a kind of friendship I didn't even know could exist until I was well into my twenties. Fantastic book for young adults, not just because it's wonderfully written and interesting, but because it shows you what real friendship should and can be.
