Book Reviews of Someone Like YouBook Review: Sarah Dessen is A Genius!! Summary: 5 Stars
*sigh* Sarah Dessen is just about one of the greatest fiction authors today. Her books are just so amazing and real... and this one, Someone Like You, was no exception.
15 year old Halley has been best friends with Scarlett Thomas ever since she moved into the neighborhood during elementary school. And since then, they have been inseparable. Halley also used to be really close to her therapist mother. But the summer before Halley's junior year, things begin to change. She begins to break away and rebel against her mother. Scarlett's boyfriend dies suddenly in a motorcycle accident, and she discovers she is carrying his baby. And to top it all off, Halley begins her first serious relationship that could prove even more difficult than she thought it would be.
What I loved about this book (and every other Dessen novel, for that matter) is how she captures the reality of a teenage girl and how difficult it can be! And the relationships portrayed here were just amazing. I was completely sucked into this book and I could not put it down.
For Dessen fans, you will be excited to read this one and add it to your collection. For those who haven't read anything by her, pick this one up! You won't regret it!
Book Review: Sarah Rocks! Summary: 5 Stars
I am catching up on all of Sarah Dessen's books and they are each and every one thoughtful and moving and real. This is a wonderful book about first love, and it will stay with you. The only problem is that the book has to end! For another first love book, try WILD ROSES by Deb Calletti. It's amazing, and they both have deeper meaning and characters that you forget aren't real people.
Book Review: She captures the emotions and thoughts of teenage girls... Summary: 4 Stars
Scarlett and Halley have been friends forever, sharing everything. Scarlett is known as the popular, exciting one, and Halley is her quiet sidekick. Then, both of their lives change, forever. Scarlett's boyfriend Michael dies in a freak accident, and Scarlett discovers she is carrying his child.
For the first time in Scarlett's life, she realizes how much she needs Halley, and they realize how strong their friendship is; it may bend, but it will never break.
Sarah Dessen's Someone Like You is a heart-warming story of love and friendship. I loved it from the first page. It is told from Halley's perspective, and I was easily able to put myself in her place. I could really feel for her. But all the characters are funny, nice, realistic, and lovable.
Sarah Dessen is an amazing author, especially for teenagers. She captures the emotions and thoughts of teenage girls and shapes them into realistic characters readers will grow to love, just as I did.
Book Review: Short summary Summary: 4 Stars
This book is about two girls at the age of fifteen and sixteen named Halley and Sacarlet. Since Scarlet moved in Halley's neighbourhood, there has been a very good friendship between them. At one day Halley gets a call from Scarlet, who is crying and very depressive and needs Halley to help. She told her that Michael, her boyfriend, is died in a very bad motorbike accident. Halley is always by her site, what isn't as easy as it seems for Hally because normally Scarlet was the stronger one of them, but now everything has changed especially as Scarlet finds out that she is getting a baby from her dead boyfriend. With only sixteen years Scarlet decides to get the baby although everyone is against the pregnancy. This time is very hard for Scarlet and Halley but the stay together whatever comes and give each other strength so hat everything is got to be right at the end.
I think the author, Sarah Dessen, wants to show us that everything what happens in the future, we can live through and we can manage it, especially we have good friends who help us and who were always there for us in every situation to give us hope. I would give this book three out of five stars, because I very liked the ending of the book because it's a happy end. Scarlet is getting her baby together with Halley and she gives her baby the name of her best friend and so this is a very nice ending and you feel very comfortable when you finished the book. It could be a bit more suspense in the book, sometimes the chapters are a little bit boring and there's no tension because the most time you know what will happened next. It's also very easy to read and to understand.
Book Review: Someone Like Me Summary: 5 Stars
In the book SOMEONE LIKE YOU, Hailey is dealing with her best friend, Scarlette, who is dealing with the lost of her boyfriend.
Hailey and Scarlette met when they were both just eleven years old. From the day they met Scarlette has always had Hailey's back. Now scarlette needs Hailey to be there by her side and Hailey doesn't know what what to do.
This book reminds me of times with a childhood friend that i still have now and still have this problem now. I've always been there for her. Through break-ups, family deaths, and even the little things like school and helping with homework, I've always had her back. But sometimes when ever i needed her by my side, like if i needed her advice on something I'm dealing with at home, it was hard for her, because I'm always there for her, and she never thought of me having problems. So when ever i had problem it was a shocker.
I recomend this book to teens, and even adults all around the world (mainly female teens), because this is book that everyone can relate to. Plus this is a great book for best friends around the world to read together.
