Book Reviews of Something BlueBook Review: A VERY ENJOYABLE READ! Summary: 5 Stars
This was a beautifully written book about a woman figuring out who she wants to be, and who she really is. It's much more than the usual girl-meets-boy, fall in love after a long haul of not liking each other story. Although the plotline sounds like any other woman's novel, the characters are much more developed and three-dimensional. This is a great book that stands on its own, however, I recommend reading "Something Borrowed" first. The Darcy character explains the story from the previous book only to back up the decisions she makes in this book. It's more powerful because the reader gets Rachel's perspective first in "Something Borrowed" so the reader can understand the evolution of Darcy's character. In each book the author portrays a distinctive voice and personality in each narrator. The reader gets a sense of Darcy as the difficult character she was so that when she finally grew up and evolved the contrast was evident and truly moving. This is a very enjoyable read!
I also loved A CHILD CALLED "IT", EXPLOSION IN PARIS, all of Fern Michael's books and THE NOTEBOOK.
Book Review: A fun read Summary: 4 Stars
While Emily Griffen is very descriptive (aka- wordy!), I had great time reading this book and felt the emotional growth of the main character Darcey. Definitely a good read for those long days at the beach!
Book Review: A good sequel. Summary: 4 Stars
After reading Something Borrowed I desperately wanted to know what would happen next in the Darcy-Rachel-Dex-Marcus saga. And with Something Blue, I was not let down. While not as captivating as it's predecessor, Griffin remains true to her great character writing. I thought it was great that this novel was in Darcy's voice. A good read for fans of Something Borrowed.
Book Review: A hope-filled, and addictive read, and surpassed my expectations! Summary: 5 Stars
After I read SOMETHING BORROWED, I was thrilled to discover that there was a sequel! And the sequel does not disappoint. I began SOMETHING BLUE with the same doubts that I had while reading SOMETHING BORROWED -- I wondered how I was ever going to sympathize. I mean, Rachel was a good person who made a huge mistake, but Darcy was so shallow, I didn't know how in the world she was going to win me over. But she did, she really did!
The story is absolutely addictive, I could not put it down. The writing is intelligent, realistic, witty, and very personal. And the triumph of love, friendship, and personal growth really gave me hope. If Darcy could change, anyone can. Emily Giffen is an AMAZING writer. I hope she continues to be this prolific!
Book Review: A must read Summary: 5 Stars
This was the perfect contiutation to something borrowed. I'm not going into any detail because I do not want to ruin it for those who have yet to read either or both books. Howeve, I will say that for this genre they are must reads and you are guarenteed to be satisfied with your purchase.
