Book Reviews of Something Blue

Book Review: Amazing Treasure!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book by Emily Giffin tells the same story as Something Borrowed but from a different point of view. I have yet to read Something Borrowed, but Something Blue is a great beach read. I completed it in just a few weeks and it grasped my attention. This is the perfect beach read. Read it and then pass it on to one of your friends who read Something Borrowed. You will fall in love with Ethan and also with Darcy. Darcy changes so much over the course of this book. At the beginning she is a mean, ice queen but as the book progress' she learns to love and also the cherish friendships and her children. Read it and you will fall in love with Ethan, and Darcy!!!!!!!!!

Book Review: An excellent follow up to Something Borrowed
Summary: 5 Stars

I was skeptical at first when reading "Something Blue". I hated Darcy in the beginning of the book but then I grew to see her true potential. Somehow throughout the book I was pulling for Darcy to put the past behind her and get herself together. Emily Giffin shows that even the shallowest characters can prevail and become the people we know and love. I was also happy to hear a follow up of Dex and Rachel. I would highly recommend this book. It is truly heartwarming. "Something Blue" is an excellent conclusion to "Something Borrowed". I would also highly recommend any of Emily Giffin's books. Her characters are loving and delightful. She always manages to tie in the themes of love, friendship, and relationships in a way that is highly relatable to everyone. Her books are not only fun to read but an excellent one!

Book Review: An excellent follow up to Something Borrowed
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have read Something Borrowed you must read Something Blue.
This story explains Darcy's side and takes you on her journey to self discovery, peace and happiness.
Just like Something Borrowed, Something Blue is difficult to put down and one you find yourself reading through as quickly as possible just to find out what happens in the end!
An excellent read!

Book Review: An exciting book that you own't want to put down!

An exciting book that you won't want to put down!

Emily Giffin's bestseller book "Something Blue" in her series that was released in 2005 is worth reading and keeps you guessing and will make you want to read the next book. This book is fiction and is about how making decision can change your life for better or worse.

The storyline people can relate to because what's goes on in the book can be similar to situations that people experience in their own lives. While Emily giffin was writing this book she found out that she was pregnant with twin boys and used this life experience as material to put in her book as the main character Darcy also finding out that she is going to be a mother expecting two twins' boys. In the book the theme of cheating is used and I think that people can relate to this. In life your girlfriend, boyfriend, or someone can cheat on you that you are close to.

The author `s writing style gives us an idea of Darcy's character as being someone who is funny, upbeat, adventurous, and likes to take risks.

Darcy's description of London makes us feel like we are right there with her experiencing the city. In London the food is slightly different than the food you would eat in the United States. A ham and cheese in London, you would ask for a "croquet misters" but in America you just call it a regular ham, and cheese sandwich. The English accent is different in London, and their American dollar is not the same as our here. It doesn't look the same and doesn't have the same value. London is known for its beautiful buildings like the Knightsbridge, marble streets, and shopping at Harrods that is like our Macy's in the United States.

Throughout the book Darcy is comparing her relationship she had with Dex and Marcus. Dex was someone who was caring, would surprise her on her birthday with cinnamon buns and candles, organized, and an all round good guy. Marcus is the total opposite. He is a good-looking guy, messy, doesn't make a lot of money, and has a bad work ethnic.

By the end of the book Darcy learns about her herself. She realizes that if you are not happy in a relationship and the person you are with is not right for you then cheating is not the answer.

Book Review: Another fabulous story from Ms. Giffin....
Summary: 5 Stars

Something Blue is the sequel to Emily Giffin's first book entitled Something Borrowed, which was narrated by the character of Rachel. Something Blue is the continuation of the same story, but this time narrated by Rachel's former best friend Darcy.

This is a great device to further the plot, telling it from another character's point of view. Initially, I hated Darcy's character, but Ms. Giffin deftly turns her into someone you end up understanding and feeling compassion for. Also, setting the second book in London gives a fresh aspect to the continued storyline; the author's detailed descriptions of the nuances of everyday life in London are excellent! The former characters are expertly developed and there are some interesting new characters that are introduced.

As is the case with Ms. Giffin's books, this one is impossible to put down, utterly engrossing and you'll find yourself devouring it in one day. And the bonus is that you don't have to have read Something Borrowed to read and understand this book...though I highly recommend you read both - the plots are fun, the characters memorable and the writing style fresh. Enjoy!
