Book Reviews of Somewhere In Time

Book Review: Book and movie: AMAZING
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the borrowed book before I watched the movie. Images were so clear in my head, that I was afraid to watch what they have done with the book! But I loved the movie as well and had been looking for the book since (to own it, this time!)

Thanks, Richard Matheson!

PD: I have always remembered his name, because my mother owned " I am legend" since I was young and I recall seeing it often. It was published in Spanish (Yo soy leyenda) with a wonderful cover, from the publisher: Minotauro.

Book Review: Loved this book!
Summary: 5 Stars

Loved this book (in some ways more than the movie), and loved the proposed prequel MEMOIRS OF ELISE (hope it gets made into a movie). Sorry Ladeebg407 -- I didn't like What DreamS May Come, either. Also, use your spell checker, you educated thang you! (liturature [literature] imagry [imagery] riviting [riveting] opprotunity [opportunity])

Summary: 4 Stars

how to appreciate a novel in its true respects. Number 1-know the name of the book. "What Dreams May Come", Not dream, But dreams. That's an insult to the author. Number 2-"What Dreams May Come" is an excellent novel that incorporates not only a beloved love story, but a restoration of liturature as well. Everything from the amazing diction and imagry right down to the syntax, created a most incredible plot line. The element that struck me as most riviting was the use of Dante and his Inferno. Those who are familiar with it (sadly not as large a population as should be expected) can appreciate the true meaning and connotation as derived from this classic. Only then can you truly grasp the full potential of this novel. If you attempt to criticize a novel, please know what you are talking about. Nothing is more irksome than an uneducated critic. Yes, you may say that this should be posted under the reviews of the appropriate novel. However, I would hate for anyone to pass up the opprotunity to read this novel due to a prior comment.

Book Review: The legend of Somewhere In Time
Summary: 3 Stars

At first,I've heard Somewhere In Time from an American film,I was only 7 0r 8 years old. 10 years passed by,I still remember this title, and I can find an original book to keep Somewhere In Time as my legendary memento.I'm also grateful that this legend is republished again in my generation.

Book Review: Wonderful romantic tragedy.
Summary: 5 Stars

It's 1971, and on the flip of a coin, 36 year-old Richard Collier, dying of a brain tumor, travels toward San Diego, and happens upon an old hotel. There he finds the captivating photograph of a young actress, Elise McKenna, who performed at the hotel in 1896. He decides to research everything he can about her. The more he learns, the more deeply he falls in love with her, and the more he's convinced that he has been to her time, and that they were in love. The 1980 movie, Somewhere In Time, starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Plummer, was based upon this 1975 novel by Richard Matheson. The novel's pull on the heartstrings, however, is even more intense, and the ending to the novel is much more tragic. The proposed sequel, MEMOIRS OF ELISE (different author), though not nearly as exhaustive as Somewhere in Time, does a good job of suggesting what happened to Elise after Richard disappeared from her life, and the events that helped her discover that Richard had come to her from the future.
