Book Review: The Lioness rules!

i first read 'The Woman who Rides Like a Man' about 5 years ago. I didnt realise until i was quarter of the way through it that it was the third in a quartet of books. By then however i was hooked. It didnt matter that i hadn't read the previous three, i could easily gather what had happened. I went back and read the rest of the books, and I just couldnt get enough. The books centre around a female heroine, Allana, who changes places with her brother Thom, so she can become a knight and he can become a wizard. She disguises herself as a boy, as women are not allowed to be knights. The first two books follow Allana's training as a knight as she grows from an eleven year-old to an eighteen year-old. The last two books follow her life after she is knighted. All four books are written with such style that it becomes impossible to put them down. The characters are strongly written, and it becomes very easy to sympathise and love Allana and her friends, and hate the bad-guy, the evil Duke Roger.If you love stories about knights, monsters, magic, chivalry and overall adventure, these, along with all the other books Tamora Pierce has written, are definately for you, no matter what your age.
