If this story interests you I would watch the movie 1st, then read these novels, then watch the movie again.
If you don't plan on watching to movie there is no point in reading a word from these novels.
Watching the movie will put you into one of the weirdest moods both during & afterwards...and you can't help yourself from watching it a few more times just to figure everything out.
Personally, this in my top 3 movies all time...mainly because I have never had so much fun trying to figure it out.
