Book Review: Best reference for travel around Spain Summary: 5 StarsThis beauty of a guide shows you what and where to see the great sites of Spain of course, but what makes this exceptional is its survival guide and background/history about Spain. A gorgeous book loaded with pictures and diagrams to help you choose what to see and explore the sites in best detail! I live in Spain and it gives me the information I need to truly explore this gorgeous, interesting country!
Book Review: My first review ever Summary: 5 StarsI have just had my best holiday, in fact my honeymoon, off the back of this book. We were deteremined to see as much of the Basque, Rioja and Navarra as possible in the 10 days of freedom and DK took us straight to them.
We went to 2 of the cheepest hotels in the book- but not any old B&B as we found out. The first was in a Benedictine monastery 5 miles along a road with not a soul in sight, occupying an entire mountain valley all to itself. Run by a tiny and hugely enthusiastic lady and a few staff we were given a wonderful local 3 course dinner including Navarran wine, a beautiful double room and breakfast for E100. With us were only an English couple, a Spanish family and 3 German friends so all that remained was for Hercule Poirot to pop his head round the corner to ask what we'd been doing the previous night. The second place was on the top of the Pyrenees in a 17th century inn built to shelter the pilgrims en route to Santiago de la Compostella for E60.
In fact I'm only on the amazon website now to order DK France in anticipation of new adventures!
