The spirit that the photographer has captured between the pages of this book defies description. This is compelling evidence that a picture is worth a thousand words. I cannot imagine that anyone who loves the essence of all things equine would be anything less than awestruck and joyous when experiencing these magical images. Most highly recommended. Have you ever really stopped and spent time looking at a horse- the beauty in all of the elements? From the wide views of a herd at full gallop to the details of those long gorgeous lashes that some women would die for... this book allows to to spend as long as you want to enjoy the horse, every part of them. As you move through this book you get to experience the serenity of a sunset on her face, shining through her forelock - to the energy of young colts trying to keep up with the rest of the herd. The images are beautiful, the layout is graceful, and the words evoke a connection to the spirit of the horse. Being a horse lover, I have seen many lovely but repetitious horse books. Tony Stromberg's photographs capture the medicine of these amazing animals with both respect and awe that drew me fully back to the magic that called me to these creatures to begin with. His composition is stunning, and I love the large format of the pages. The text chosen to accompany the photos is judiciously added to complement rather than define the images. The photographs are mostly in browns and beiges like old style
photography. There is also too much repetition in my opinion.
I was expecting color and drama and felt disappointed.

The photo book Spirit Horses is an must for every horse lover. The photo's are incredible and create or catch a mistical atmosphere as I have seldom seen. The captions are inspiring. Not a book to read but one to pick up once a week for half an hour meditation. Highly recommended
