Book Review: Disappointing
Summary: 2 Stars
Perhaps I approached this from the wrong direction, but I didn't find this book terribly enlightening. The contents could have been distilled into a long essay or a PowerPoint presentation without losing much impact. The author's tediously dry writing style, and his lack of any sort of creative flair or verbal artistry suggest to me that this book is aimed at academics; even then I can't imagine many historians would find it all that useful. I was also disappointed at the lack of illustrations, which might have alleviated some of the tedium.
