Book Reviews of StardustBook Review: Great Story! Summary: 5 Stars
I really LOVED this book. It really is a sort of modern twist on the classic fairy tale. Gaiman's use of words and imagery is fantastic. I felt as if all of these characters came to life for me and I loved all of them! If you just want to take a little break from the mundane routines of life, I suggest reading this book.
Book Review: Great addition to the fantasy collection Summary: 4 Stars
When I found out the movie Stardust was based off a novel, I couldn't help myself but go out and buy it.
Coming from a die hard fan of books like The Neverending Story, Harry Potter and Eragon, it's hard for me to have high expectations for any book to be better than those.
Stardust started off a bit boring to me. It did not catch my attention right away and I had to force myself through the first couple of chapters to really get sucked in. But the fact of the matter is I definetly did! It defently is a light read, but at the same time one has to really pay attention to the details, because in a J.K Rowling-esque style, all the sub-plots and little details all come to play in the end.
I found this book to be very charming. It reminded me very much of The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, except for much shorter and somewhat of a cheesy love story. I would have loved for the book to be longer and have more plot line. By the time I got really into the book, three fourths of it was finished. Maybe I'm too used to very lengthy books, however.
I would recommend this book to anyone with a love of other world type fantasy novels. It was well worth the time I spent procrastinating to do homework :)
Book Review: Great read! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this after seeing and loving the movie. I pored through it in about a day! While different from the movie in a lot of ways, I found the book to be just as good and interesting. This is a great read, and totally worth, buying and keeping.
Book Review: Horrible Book Summary: 2 Stars
When I finished reading this book, I felt that I had wasted a few hours of my life. The characters are not developed at all. The story barely exists. There are so many positive reviews of this book that this will probably not affect anyone's decision, but I like virtually any good fantasy story. This book just does not have a story or interesting characters.
Book Review: I Tried To Like It Summary: 2 Stars
I really did. I've heard so many good things about this book, so I went out and bought it. I loved the idea of it. I thought it romantic that a young man would go in search of a fallen star for the woman he loves. But the woman he loves is so obviously disinterested in him, I had to wonder why he even bothered. There were a couple times in the book I wanted to just forget it, but I forged ahead hoping it would get better. I'm sorry to say, for me at least, it didn't get better. Tristan and the star were the most interesting aspects of the book, but it wasn't enough for me. And the ending was so...blah. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it, but I expected more of a reaction out of Tristan at the end regarding Veronica...Victoria? I've already forgotten her name. It just didn't do it for me.
