Book Reviews of Stargate SG-1: The Barque of Heaven: SG-11

Book Review: A page turner
Summary: 5 Stars

After buying this book last week, I haven't been able to put it down since and this just reminds me why SG-1 happens to be my favorite show and series since this book shows just how much the members of the team really matter to each other and what these types of missions can do to strengthen those bonds. As a Stargate fan, I hope that they don't end the books series to quickly and dish out more books like this. Trust me, pick this one up, you won't be disappointed.

Book Review: Would have made a great episode arc!
Summary: 4 Stars

This was pretty good for the author's first attempt. I agree with previous reviewers that this brings the group back to the way they were at the beginning of the show, which of course makes sense because the author states it takes place in season three. Although the author gets the sense of team work, commoradery and family feel for the group. I feel as though some of the conversation wasn't quite on target. There were a few moments where I didn't feel she got the characters of Samantha or Daniel right but it didn't detract from the story so that's o.k. Overall I really enjoyed this and look forward to her next one! Let's keep these books coming - I have to get my Daniel fix somehow now that the series is over! : )

Book Review: Family team work to a 'T'
Summary: 5 Stars

I also got the advanced copy. My cover, however, adds Jack on the left and Daniel on the right with the eye in the middle. The author, Suzanne Wood really did a wonderful job in keeping with the characters interactions with each other. The classic lines that Jack always uses and his way of pushing his team on when he knows that it may be impossible. The 'No one gets left behind' is seen here. This book is such a page turner with what seems like endless adventure and suspense, because they have to go through 13 gates and it is the 'what is on the other side' that is so great! Keeps you wanting to read. I highly recommend this book for all SG1 fans!

Book Review: TV show/book tie-in -- and it works!
Summary: 4 Stars

Having just finished the advanced copy myself, I agree that it is definitely a good, old-fashioned team story. This shows a group of four people who are more than just a team. They are a family that care about each other. That was a strong emotion and story catalyst in the early years of the show (known online as the "classic years"), and it felt good to see it again in this book.

They worked together to get out of their misadventure, each using their particular field of expertise in a logical manner and performing tasks in-character. There was adventure, angst, fighting, whumping, moments of extraordinary friendship -- everyone had a very strong role in this tale.

All in all, it "felt" and "read" like a classic year story, and that's pretty high praise in my humble opinion.

Book Review: Excellent Team story
Summary: 5 Stars

I received an advance copy of the book, Stargate SG1: The Barque of Heaven and just recently finished reading it. I am very pleased to say that this story hearkens back to the good old team adventure days. There's something for everyone to do, some really nice team and character moments, with a bit more emphasis on Daniel & Jack. This book reminds me WHY SG1 is the team that I love; they aren't just a team, they are a family and in the story it shows. I wish I could go into further detail as there is just so much that I would like to discuss, but unfortunately that would require spoiling the story. Suffice to say that I recommend this story to anyone who is a team `gen' fan who enjoys the team embark on an (mis)adventure
