Book Reviews of Stephanie's Ponytail (Annikins)Book Review: Educational Summary: 5 Stars
What a delightful story that will get kids to thinking. Stephanie finds herself being a trendsetter and soon grows tired of being a copycat. The most wonderful part of the book is that it shows Stephanie's determination to be independent and not let others influence her attitude. It is inspiring and wonderful story that should be a must read for all children.
Book Review: Great book with great lesson Summary: 5 Stars
We love this book in our house. It teaches kids not to be followers and stand up for what they believe in.
Book Review: Great story about copycatting. Summary: 4 Stars
Stephanie wants a ponytail. And all the kids say "Ugly, ugly", but the next day they copy her style. And she keeps coming up with more and more exotic places for her ponytails and getting more and more frustrated with the annoying hypocrites in her school, until she finally announces she's Shaving her HEAD.
She doesn't, they do. LOL. Great shot at the end of the entire shaven school, teachers and principal and students and all (and birds, and cats, and dogs with their heads shaved!) chasing Stephanie with her one ponytail right in the back of her head. It's ridiculous, it's absurd, it doesn't pretend to have any more meaning than that "Copycats are annoying" - you have to love it.
Before you purchase this book, please note that the "Annikins" editions of Munsch's books are specially sized to fit into little kid hands. If you check the product dimensions you'll see this edition is only about three inches square. If you need a bigger book, you'll need to get a different edition. If you purchase the small edition you are NOT allowed to come back here and whine about it. It's your own fault for not reading the product information! (And yes, it is in the product information.)
Book Review: Great story, disappointing 'mini' format Summary: 3 Stars
I love the Munsch books and this is a good one. So I ordered it, with 2 others, as a present for a little girl I know. I was deeply disappointed when I found that this was a "mini" book. Rather than being the typical size Munsch book that I have bought in the past (maybe 8" x 6"), this was only about 3" square. The story is good and I guess the price should have been a tip-off. When I looked the item up today, I could not find anything in the description that mentioned the size. By clicking on a link I found that there were other 'formats' but as far as I could tell, none of them mentioned a size. Possibly the older version is more normal.
Book Review: My daughter will write a review: Summary: 4 Stars
I liked this book because stephanie had a ponytail and went to school and the kids said ugly ugly very ugly but the next day everybody was wearing a ponytail. I am not going to tell you any more because I want you to find out.
