Book Review: Terri Irwin's book
Summary: 5 Stars
Terri does a fantastic job of writing about her life and Steve's, especially considering much of it was done during the earlier part of grieving. As we have learned running GriefNet, the first couple years after the loss of a partner are multiple variations on pure agony. The first thing to go and often the last to return is your mind. You are forced to create new neural pathways because all the old ones lead to the same dead end: the loss of your beloved. Doing so takes time, energy, and copious tears. Coherent writing is just not on the screen unless one is already able to write well and in an organized fashion. Even then it's like carrying water in a sieve. Terri overcomes all these obstacles and creates a book that allows us into her and Steve's private world. It brings closure to those of us who still grieve his death as if it just happened. We can take comfort in knowing he had the best of all worlds: his incredible love and enthusiasm for wildlife, being able to show the world much of what he knew, the perfect soul mate, and two incredible children. Terri gives us a wonderful gift.
