Book Reviews of Still Woman Enough: A Memoir

Book Review: Loretta is pure Country
Summary: 5 Stars

I really enjoyed this followup to Coal Miner's Daughter. What I like about Loretta is that what you see is what you get. She is honest and open and has had her share of heartache. I suspect that is why people can relate to her and her music.

I loved Loretta's stories about George Jones, Conway Twitty, and Patsy Cline.

The book is written as Loretta would speak it. (She talks about how her family could have used 'thurpy') It makes it easy to picture Lorette speaking the words of her story directly to you. I give this book 5 stars.

Book Review: No holds barred
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this book! Loretta Lynn showed it is not only common folks that have big problems but famous ones also. Nothing was held back. I laughed when she hit Doo over the head for calling her a unkindly name, cried when Doo was in his last days, and cheered when she stuck up for herself. Two thumbs up!

Book Review: Where's the rest of the book?
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm just finishing this delightful book. Reading the years since The Coal Miner's Daughter was very interesting. Loretta is a very, very strong lady, even during her weakest moments.

However, I would like to ask the paperback publisher a question. Why is my book missing chapters 10 & 11? While those two chapters are missing, they inserted chapters 12 & 13 twice! So anyone interested in buying the paperback, thumb thru it first and see if it has the missing pages (107-130)!

Book Review: A keeper!
Summary: 5 Stars

Any admirer of Loretta Lynn, whether as a woman or as an entertain or as both, will find much to like about this book. Ms. Lynn is open, honest, and frank----as always!! She lets the reader inside her life, inside her pain, and inside her very unusual relationship with Doolittle Lynn. I could never have endured a tenth of what she has endured in life and I thoroughly admire her courage, strength, determination, talent, and FAITH.
An unforgettable book.

Book Review: Back to My Roots
Summary: 5 Stars

I was born in Paintsville and have been to Butcher Holler a few times. The way Loretta writes, I can hear her telling the whole story. It is like she just sat down next to me, and we are chatting over coffee. She writes with the same accent she talks with, and that is comforting, because it is the accent I got teased about growing up. She does a good job of portraying Doolittle as real instead of the one sided person many see him as. The book is filled with laughter, which is great, because it helped me quit crying every other page.
