Book Reviews of Stillness Speaks

Book Review: Be Still, My Mind!
Summary: 5 Stars

With very few words, in a sutra style (spiritual one-liners) Eckhart captures the essence of his "Power of Now" philosophy and carries it further with little power blurbs that leave your conditioned mind spinning, causing it to run for cover of silence. Woah!

Good for little "peace breaks" throughout the day - keep it at your side and dip in often.

Drink deeply and ponder!

Book Review: Beautiful Quietude and the Truth
Summary: 5 Stars

From the author of "The Power of Now," Eckhart Tolle offers us a gem of quietude that in and of itself can allow a radiant shift in consciousness. Once again, he encourages to get out of our minds and into the heart to realize harmony and peace. This is a shift out of time into timelessness and in this book, we do so in a manner that is similar to the ancient sutras of India. Instead of reading this book from cover to cover, enjoy a short section each day. You soon will begin discovering that Stillness Speaks.

Katie Davis, Awake Joy: The Essence of Enlightenment

Book Review: Better than Power of Now same content but more refined
Summary: 5 Stars

I like the power of now but in some ways I found it long-winded and repeatative. The main message in the Power of Now is the importance of the observation of the stillness. At some points I feel PON loses its focus because of the deep insights and speculations about causality. I am in no way saying that I did not like the Power Of Now, I still believe it is worthwhile. But Stillness Speaks is the same message but it really comes through clearer and more direct. Some reviewers have articulated that it is the same content. That is true. Everything that is in PON is in Stillness speaks. I feel that Stillness Speaks is simply more user friendly.

Book Review: Book is a Contradiction
Summary: 1 Stars

If what Tolle says is true, then the method in which he is using to tell his story is a contradiction. In other words, if mind is really not where it is at, then to convey his message via the mind in this book would imply that the book is second rate. The author cant have it both ways. He can't say that the mind is bad and then use his mind to write a book. To use his mind to write a book would in itself discount his original proposition that the mind is the enemy.

Book Review: Book of Value
Summary: 5 Stars

Through my experience I have found that when I am desperately looking for answers a book will come along that shows me a way out of my currently turmoil. Eckhart Tolle's, The Power of Now and Stillness Speaks, articulate softly and lovingly an alternative paradigm of experiencing life. He is able to lead the reader to the state of present moment awareness through his words which both teach and enlighten. Truly a master teacher/mystic.
