Book Reviews of Stone ColdBook Review: I like Summary: 5 Stars
The seller did their part and delivered a product in good condition.
The content is great, but I'm a bias fan. I don't know of anyone who can take multiple stories from different ends of the earth and bring them together for an uncanny magnificent ending like "The Baldacci can"
Baldacci at his But you have to read the first two for the full effect.
Book Review: Last book of the series that I read Summary: 4 Stars
I read this book, in the series out of sequence. Oliver Stone, John Carr is a Great American who with the help of The Camel Club, certainly deserves every accolade affordable. I'll miss the Milton character, he was an important cog in the club. Oliver trying and succeeding to make things right seemed to go astray in the running the country with so many different agendas is a definite page-turner.
Book Review: Listen up, Hollywood! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great book. No, it probably won't make the category of a literary classic like Moby Dick and such, but for adventure/suspense readers, this book does the trick. Those who rated it with one or two star must've been having a real bad day. How else could they give such a negative review to such a good book.
The character, John Carr (a.k.a. Oliver Stone - thus the title, STONE COLD), is an admirable personality, indeed - highly intelligent, modest and unassuming, strong convictions, fiercely loyal to his friends and principles, brooding over past deceptions to which he'd been victim, grieving over past sins & losses, and incredibly lethal when necessary. True hero material.
If any Hollywood producer happens to read this, which I doubt, STONE COLD (and the whole CAMEL CLUB series) would make for great cinema. Given the right director and screenplay writer, it has potential for a wonderful blend of cinematic humor, pathos, chemistry between the CAMEL CLUB's personalities, and a complex but engaging story line.
And I have a suggestion regarding who might make a great John Carr. Mark Harmon, who plays Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the TV show NCIS, could step right into the character without any trouble, although he may need to bulk up slightly to fit Carr's mold. Leroy Jethro Gibbs and John Carr are very similar - tough, honest, and determined men in a tough world. We need to see more of that.
No need to thank me, Hollywood. Just send me a cut of the profits! Yah, right, I won't hold my breath.
Book Review: Love the Camel Club Series Summary: 5 Stars
I always find "series" books to be hit or miss. Some series are great, some last too long (how is Lucas Davenport still going strong?), and some are just plain BAD (love Harlan Coben, but abhor the Myron Bolitar series)! Having said that - for now I put the Camel Club books in the GREAT category. Sure the action and twists and turns can be a little hard to believe, but the characters are deep and varied. Some are stereotypical and others are totally real and believable. Baldacci blends them so well in these books. This one has so many intertwining plots it was very difficult to not finish in one night. Sooner or later we're going to have to see a Camel Club movie from one of these books. Go get the book and enjoy!
Book Review: More like 3.5 stars Summary: 4 Stars
I liked it even though stories about former spies are not my favorite subject matter. It moves quickly, makes sense and has the ocassional twist that keeps things interesting. Read it while off for a couple of days...would make a great beach book.
