Book Review: Finally a book that makes sense
Summary: 5 Stars

I started reading this book a year ago. I thaught it made great sense. But I guess I wasn't ready to follow it just yet.. Then last August I started reading it again and it clicked..I guess by then I was ready. I started watching what I hate and counting the percentage of fat in everything. What a discovery to think that some of the food I thaught was low fat was loaded with it... Of course going to the supermarket with my calculator wasn't always a blast.. but I got used to it and now I'm doing fine. I've lost 30 pounds since August 17, feeling great and for the first time in my life eating great meals, 3 times a day... To anyone who wants to change the way they eat I suggest this book, and you should try her cookbook too. Oh and by the way I'm hooked on her exercises tapes. Who would of taught that I could look forward to doing step workout 5 days a week.... Bye and good luck to all of you.

Book Review: First book you should read to lose weight
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read many weight loss books and have decided to review a couple of the ones I think have come out tops. My favourites would have to be this one and Volumetrics.

Susan's book was an eye opener for me as I had not realised that so much food that is labelled 'low fat' or 'lite' or even outright 3% fat is anything but! Fat percentage is only relevant in terms of total calories - not total weight! Susan's story made me laugh out loud and she is a super-motivator - I would recommend reading this book before any other more 'serious' diet book. Her over the top enthusiasm is infectious and would probably make a good primer before getting into my top weight-loss book, Volumetrics.

The approach in 'stop the Insanity' is a very low fat one (ignoring the amount of acalories consumed, which is probably not such a good idea..) but the she explains this in a very clear manner and I find this invaluable and rare and it can easily be adapted to the Volumetrics plan too. See my review for that book for further details.

Book Review: Good advice, but hard to follow
Summary: 3 Stars

The basic premise of a low fat diet is that you get more "bang for your buck". However, I'm sensitive to most grains, and find that the recipes did little to satisfy my hunger. I kept wanting to eat more and more. I was hungry practically every hour on the hour. I find that if I just have a small portion of the actual taste I am longing for, like a bit of olive oil drizzled on green beans with some baked chicken, I get exactly what I want in the taste I want, and don't need to go back, and I feel satisfied and not stuffed. I don't like feeling hungry all the time. Sure, I could eat larger portions cutting the fat, but I am more of a quality, not quantity person. When I cut the fat that low, my skin and hair got a bit drier, (I've got naturally dry skin and hair due to hypothyroidism).

The nutritional advice in this book is very good, and she is very knowledgeable about food and exercise. She managed to lose a lot of weight, but this diet won't work for everyone.

Book Review: Great book if you read ALL of what she is saying.
Summary: 5 Stars

Several people reviewing this book think that Susan says to eat
anything and as much as you want. If you were really paying attention while you were reading, you will notice that she says
to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. She shows
examples of substitutes for high fat food, but I really don't think she intended for anyone to actually eat 800 grapes instead
of one chocolate chip cookie. Also, she does not condone eating
food high in sugar or processed grains. She does advise to eat
vegetables, whole grains, lean white meat, and fruits (organically grown even). Her advise is sound and does work, if
you are willing to get off your couch and exercise and be sensible about what you eat.

Book Review: Highly motivational
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow...
This is one motivational book that will
definately get you off your butt.
I hope every woman that has ever struggled
with weight will read this book.
It will change your life forever.
