Book Review: A GREAT START
Summary: 5 Stars
After reading all of the negative reviews for this curriculum, I was slightly apprehensive to use this as a tool for teaching history to my children. I used it as a source anyway because I didn't see many other options out there. I must say that it isn't perfect. It is simplified, and a lot of the text is written subjectively, but seriously, for an elementary student, it's an excellent start. She gives great ideas for activities and other books to reference in each chapter. She obviously didn't intend for this to be used exclusively. I have used it all summer with my children, and they LOVE IT, and they have learned so much! We have checked out lots of books to supplement and done several of her activities. I wouldn't take everything so seriously, and use this as a great tool to introduce history to your children. They will remember the main concepts so well if they use her references and supplemental activities. Just have fun and don't be so uptight about some of the inaccuracy. If you're also checking out supplemental books, the facts will all work out.
