Book Review: "Yak on a Hot Tin Roof" is reason enough to buy!
Summary: 5 Stars
With it's macabre cover and dark images that lie within the books pages, you'd think this book held tales more akin to H.P. Lovecraft than Monty Python. But, in my opinion, this book has more in common with the latter. The way I imagine it, Wilson has the uncanny ability to write down every absurd detail of his dreams. Sometimes he awakes from a short dream which would account for the occasional very short-short story that is in Stranger. But regardless, most of these stories are highly entertaining. The world that these writings depict is almost cartoon-like in its abadonment of logic and reality, which is not a bad thing at all. Instead, logic is replaced by possibility and dreams are fleshed out through Wilson's hand- a writing style which could be viewed as escapist fantasy or even, at times, clever satire. I prefer media which functions as a break from the norm, so this book really grabbed me. upon reading this i ran out and bought two other books by him (none of which are as good i might add...this one is the best i have read by him.) All in all, very funny and well worth reading.
