I just finshed reading this journal/remembrance/travel guide and I have to say it's been some time since I enjoyed a non-fiction book as much as I did this one. Divided into chapters that detail roughly one day each, Mr. Elder's trip into the southern hemisphere's most enchanting country is rich with events like hikes in dense rain forests, boat trips along New Zealand's magnificent fjords, drives past the snow-capped southern Alps, and his trip along the cobbled streets of quaint, thoroughly English Christchurch. I can only hope my own experiences in New Zealand are half as wonderful and momentous as his turned out to be!
