Book Reviews of Stuart Little

Book Review: It is more than it looks
Summary: 5 Stars

I am always searching for E.B. White's books to read after finishing this special books. Although it looks like a children book but in reality it consists of many adult experiences like traveling, sailing, searching for something unachievable. It seems to me this book describes E.B. White's perception of life. After reading all the previews, I found many readers dislike the "never" ending of the story. But, I tend to appreaciate it more maybe because I read it at the age of 25 - the ending is about this adventerous being always searching for something perfect but even though he cannot find what he wants, he is still searching for it. This thought maybe very difficult for children to understand, but they would see the meaning behind the "sharp" ending if they are to read it again in their adulthood...

If you read Eassy of E.B. White, you will appreciate more about the travelling of Stuart Little and not his destination. You would appreciate it more if you set out to travel to a different place away from your world, and enjoy every part of the journey among all the unpleasant happening. It is all about meeting interesting people and exchanging thoughts.

Some children may have difficulties appreciating the sailing race, terms like boom and gybe... Learn to sail if you want to know what the E.B. White like so much about his hobby, sailing.

This is the only book that is close to my heart...

Book Review: It was the bomb.
Summary: 4 Stars

Stuart Little was a very good book I thought. It was not hard to read but the auther did a good job of making the story come to life. The thing I liked most about this story is it is a story that will grab you and won't let go. The main charctures are Stuart, Stuarts brother George and his parents Mr. and Mrs.Little. I liked the way the auther used her words. They let me see pictures in my head. One of the main problems is the Little's cat Snowbell and Snowbell's friend. They try and catch Stuart's friend Margolo. She is a bird. She had a hurt wing so the Little's decided to help her. This was a really great book.

I thought Stuart Little was a great book. Stuart is not a ordinary mouse, he is an adventerous mouse. The book was much better than the movie!

Book Review: Mouse on a Quest
Summary: 5 Stars

This darling chidlren's classic--with exquisite b/w illistrations by Garth Williams--has been a family favoite since my childhood. Orignally begun as a series of unrelated tales about a mouse born into a human family who lives in a kinder, gentler New York City, this book gradually evolves into a novelette. After several expository chapters the plot finally emerges; in this animal fantasy world human-rodent relationships and dialogue are accepted as natural. This humorous but unlikely story will appeal to elementary children and all who keep mice as pets.

For our Stuart is a Mouse-about-Town (and Country), in his mini-car with invisible capabilities. He might even be the literary ancestor of Beverly Cleary's Mouse and the Motorcycle. His self-appointed quest is to seek out his dear friend, Margalo--a tamed wild bird who flew away in fear of the family cat.

Equally at home on land or on water, this intrepid mouse discovers that not all his "Midsummer Memories" are sweet, but his adventures capture our childlike imagination. This gentlmanly mouse is sociable (with occasional hints of the sulks). He is at home both in a canoe and in the schoolroom; he admire his fearlessness in setting out to succeed in a human world. He follows his dream with quiet independence and determination; we respect his steadfast devotion to Margalo, who once saved his life. This is a simple, pleasant read for the young at heart.

Book Review: My favorite children's book, period!
Summary: 5 Stars

The only word for this book is "enchanting." You and your children can get lost in the wonderous world of Stuart Little and his adventures... but it's more than that. The use of language is beautiful beyond words. Even if you don't have kids, you might just want to read it. Stuart's day as a substitute teacher is so classic, if you read it, you'll never forget it. No matter how old your kids are, read this to them! Don't forget to stop and enjoy the timeless Garth Williams illustrations. I think this book would be on my own personal "desert-island list"
