Book Reviews of Super Baby FoodBook Review: fabulous book!! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is wonderful! I made Carl sweet potato, avocado, and green beans for a month of feedings in an afternoon! Now I just take out a couple of cubes and thaw them for the day! Ruth Yaron designed this book for parents she knows how limited our time is. I did this all with minimal reading, the book is set up in such a way that you CAN'T go wrong! It is so easy!! and the money saving tips are great too!!
Book Review: fantastic resource Summary: 5 Stars
I have raised 2 healthy, happy children from infancy using this book as a guide. The book contains great nutritional information as well as a guide to new parents on how to organize time and uncomplicates the goal of most parents -- giving your children the best. I have seen the criticisms from fellow reviewers, and would only say that a) one book should not be the source of all information for everything, b) risk of allergic reaction can be calaculated by looking at family history of allergies, and c) Yaron certainly does speak about allergies and phasing new foods into your child's diet -- so calm down everyone! To this day, my 4 year old vegetarian son, who is off the charts in height and in the 90th percentile for weight, happily eats a funny brew we made up, using ideas from this book, that includes flax seeds, tahanini and wheat germ all in one meal, and craves it when we eat out. We are not the type of family who would make wheat germ birthday cake or eat tofu every day, but I feel confident that -- through ideas largely culled from this book -- my kids are healthy, both inside and out. I think this book provides nutritionally-conscious parents some great strategies for making sure children meet all their nutritional needs. I highly recommend this book.
Book Review: far more than what I expected... Summary: 5 Stars
I've been looking for books on making baby food, so I picked this one up at a bookstore and I haven't put it down since. This was far beyond what I expected, and everytime I read it, I am pleasantly surprised with more useful information. Not only is it a book about feeding your baby healthful easy-to-prepare foods, but it also focuses on baby safety, money saving tips, and eveything else you can even imagine. It is by far the most thourough and comprehensive book on the subject that I've seen so far. I would recommend this book to all moms who not only wish to feed their baby nutritious food, but are also concerned with baby's health and safety, are creative in their parenting, and who are always interested in saving money by recylcing what is already in your own home.
Book Review: feeding bible Summary: 5 Stars
Of all the books to have this is a must. It is the best reference out there for feeding recomendations. The tables are very helpful. It also has great advice for at home remedies for things like diaper rash. Making your own baby food is easier than carting all the jars home from the grocery, not to mention cheaper and better for your baby and the environment. Get a copy for you and anyone you know who is having a baby!
Book Review: good book Summary: 4 Stars
Any parent of a newborn child would want the best for their baby. This book has received many mixed reviews and so I thought I would contribute my two cents also. I felt this book is a good resource for new ideas to provide the best nutrition for a child. I personally prefer to cook from scratch using organic ingredients, so this book is right up my alley, and yet I cannot say that I made any of the recipes in this book. Instead I kept an open mind when I read this book, and gleaned from it any information that I felt were useful to me. I found the chapters on pureeing and batch cooking baby food and how to store them very informative and helpful. I also appreciated her comprehensive lists of what to feed the baby at the different stages. I am a mother of twin girls, and I do credit Ms. Yaron for motivating me to stick to wholesome nutritious food for my babies, and I am happy to say that from age 6 months to 19 months (when they began to become finicky), my girls ate gobs and gobs of organic brown rice and so many vegetables and fruits. Right now my girls are 22 months old, and they have not eaten french fries and other fast food crap as yet -- time enough for that when they go to school and see what their peers eat. My girls only ate baby food in jars when we took road or plane trips, but other than that, I try to prepare most of their meals at home. So overall, I think this is a good book, though some parts could have been more comprehensively written, and it is up to the reader to use their commonsense and follow whatever ideas they are comfortable with and have the time for.
