Book Review: Good book, but you might want to go to the origional!

Jo Frost is entertaining on TV and her book is an OK resource. About what you would expect after watching Nanny 911. My only criticism after reading Supernanny is that it lacks depth. Seems as if it was produced to capitalize on her newfound popularity. Its fun to read, and therefore probably worth a look, but if you are a parent looking for an insightful and in-depth resource I would suggest that you take a look at a book that seems as if it was the original resource for recent parenting gurus such as Jo Frost and Dr. Phil. After reading Jo's book I'm certain her material was motivated by a book titled "Systemic Parenting: An Exploration of the Parenting Big Picture" - written by a real family therapist not a made for TV therapist and team of ghost writers. Perhaps these are harsh words but when it comes to parenting I want to be as well informed as I can. Therefore, I am very critical of what I read. Its important to separate fad from insightful and in-depth material. So, read Supernanny. It cannot hurt, but I would STRONGLY suggest that it be supplemented with a book like Systemic Parenting so as to receive the full parenting benefit and to get the theory that makes these things work - theory and depth that is missing from Supernanny.
