Book Review: This book had something in it that I'm always fond of
Summary: 3 Stars
See, this COULD have been great. I love the thought of the big guy soooo large that the woman would actually have had a reason to cower and whimper (unlike in other books). I liked the whole concept of the toys. Could've been handled REALLY well.
Unfortunately it wasn't. The book was... okay. I give it 3 stars because I enjoy so many of the characters in it, and of course, I liked the sex scenes (which is a very big deal to me, if you've read my reviews before). But Dane was obnoxious and too stubborn. not to mention a big egotistical. I mean, sure he was BIG, but to think that NO ONE would be able to? Hm... I *suppose* since they didn't have porn as we know it, maybe he didn't know that he wasn't so terribly frightening. Olivia was quite insightful in some ways, but sometimes was TSTL. Made me want to smack my forehead too much.
I think that if Ms. Bradley went beyond the initial sex scene (as opposed to the in-depth foreplay the rest of the time) it would have been more satisfying (no pun intended -- well, maybe it was). As it is, it does one of the things I hate -- makes the consumation of the relationship the be-all-end-all of the whole thing. I prefer more substance.
All in all, it wasn't awful, but not the most enjoyable of the books (I liked The Rogue best, I think). I've finished the rest of her royal four and liars club books (would have liked another liar's club book with the secondary character from To Wed a Scandalous Spy) -- you know who I mean. :-P I haven't read the Duke series. I keep meaning to, but they just aren't catching my interest. I'll do it eventually.
Anyway, read it for the story continuation, enjoy the cheesiness. It can be fun. Just don't take it too seriously.
