Stage, film, and television actress Becky Ann Baker artfully assumes the voice of Katie Wilkinson, a young woman who believes she has found the love of her life in Matt Harrison. We feel she may be a bit astigmatic as Matt disaapears, leaving behind only a heartbroken Katie and a diary his first wife, Suzanne, kept for their son, Nicholas.

In telling detail Suzanne, a physician who suffered a heart attack at the age of 35, relates how she and Matt met, and married. Almost against her will Kattie finds herself drawn to Suzanne and Nicholas. She wonders what has happened to them. Another questions haunts: does she have a future with Matt?

Leave it to Patterson ("Along Came A Spider" (1992), "1st To Die" (2001) to combine amour and mystery, thus presenting a page-turning love story.
