Book Review: Bionicle letdown?

The three years Bioncile has been running is now caught inbetween the 126 pages of Bionicle Chronicles. Tale of the toa is the first of these, written by C.A. Hapka redcords the arrival of the Toa on Mata Nui, the island paradise, the adventures they had collecting the Kanohi, the battles with the rahi, and the defeat of makuta. With the loveable characters all here, how you would expect them to be, Lewa everquick speaking in Le Koran slang, Kopaka and Tahu bickering, Onua, Pohatu shifting rocks, and gali trying to sort everything out, Bionicle chronicles is cracked up to follow in the footsteps of Bionicle. However, I found the vocabulary rather basic, aimed at 7-12yrs. many 7 - 12yrs may be into Bionicle, but the older generation won't need to buy this. If you are a bionicle nut, and know all that is to know, the books will be rather basic and unappealing, for someone just wanting to get into Bionicle, these books are a treasure trove of the plot and storyline of the building blocks from lego. The heroes seem alot more dark in these books, bickering and fed up. The chronicles spare no expense in saying how the toa feel about Tahus leadership abilities (or lack of.) I do like how the books follow the plot, they are very close to the comics and web updates, the Bionicle lexicon is woven in to the story, the chapters are short, and the names and characteristics are correct. Bottom line: new to Bionicle, buy them. Bionicle fan- don't bother, they aren't great to collect, they seem to be printed on newspaper type paper.
