Book Reviews of Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy LessonsBook Review: A wonderful phonics reading program with a great price Summary: 5 StarsThis book is great! I homeschool my kids and I was worried about teaching my 5 year old to read. Before this book, we were doing phonics flash cards. He was bored, and I felt we weren't making any progress. We are now halfway through the book, and he is reading! Now my 3 year old has started the book with me---he insists. He's learning to read now just like his big brother!
Book Review: THE BEST MONEY YOU CAN SPEND ON YOUR KIDS!!! Summary: 5 StarsI heard about this book from friend and bought it thinking that my almost 3yr old was way too young -- wrong!!!. My daughter finished the book at age 3-1/2 and just loves to read (she is now 5). I have recommended this book to more people than I can remember -- so much so, that I had it printed on the back of my calling card! What a great way to teach your child and snuggle at the same time!!!!
Book Review: I didn't think my 4 year old would be able to read so soon! Summary: 5 StarsI have a son who enters kindergarten in the fall. His new school teaches how to read with the "whole language" method, and I was concerned that he wouldn't learn phonics. He loves this book! For every lesson he completes, he gets a star. Every 10 stars, he earns a new storybook...and he's reading!
Book Review: An effective method Summary: 5 StarsMy 5 year old son and I just recently finished this book. It took us less than 4 months to complete. He is now reading some of the books suggested at the end of the book, and some other easy readers that I have found. Reading is still hard work for him, but I am so thankful for this program that has given him a great foundation for reading. It is amazing how much he learned in such a short amount of time. I would like to warn that some of the lessons can take a lot longer than twenty minutes, and some of the lessons were very frustrating for him. There are also a few typos in the book, and occasionally an irregular word shows up in a story before it has been introduced. I also found that there was not always instructions for the corrections that I needed to make. I only bring this up because of how it was stressed in the introductions that this is a very careful method, down to the last detail! All in all, it worked very well, but I would not say that my son rea! ds anywhere near the second grade level even though he successfully completed the book. But, he is well on his way! I would also like to note that we ended up skipping the writing portion because I thought it might be confusing since he will be learning D'Nealian in kindergarten in the fall. Also, since he did not know the alphabet at all, I had to supplement that part some.
Book Review: If you only buy one book for your child. . .this is it! Summary: 5 StarsThis phonics-based book taught our 3 year old daughter how to read very well. I have recommended this book to dozens of parents and they have also found that it worked easily with their children. After completing this book our daughter started reading Little House on the Prairie novels (age 4)! Follow the directions provided in the book and then watch your child read and read and read. Our daughter liked the humorous pictures which had to be covered up until the short story was read. She always wanted to peek. The world of reading was opened to her at a young age thanks to this excellent book. Now she reads whatever we provide on the shelves. Isn't that what education is all about? P.S. I'd even recommend it if it cost three times as much money!
