Book Review: Very nice book but one major flaw
Summary: 4 Stars
Beautifully clear layout (some other tutor books have very crowded pages)and fun pictures. Goes straight into using three fingers (rather than spending the first few pieces just playing middle C - so boring!). I think the tunes selected are good. However, the major flaw, in my opinion, is that the fingering is given virtually everywhere, so the child can read the numbers rather than the intervals/ notes. This cannot be a good idea surely. Another fault is that there is no obvious book to move on to. They suggest JT's First Grade Book, but I've looked at that and don't think it's suitable for my 5-yr old, so I'll be using the JT Easiest Piano course Part 2 instead. I've decided that if I have another 5-yr old to teach, I'll try Chester's Easiest piano course, which is very spare with the fingering. It's a shame though, because it's a lovely book in all other respects.
