Book Review: A recipe for improving anyone's writing

Most writers fall into one of two categories: those for whom words just "flow" who often can be verbose; and "reluctant" writers who would rather pull their upper lip over their head than have to write a paragraph. This program helps both and if one can formulize what it takes to write well, Pudewa has done a good job. This system copies Ben Franklin's writing methods - taking existing "great" writing and attempting to improve on it. Initially, students will outline writing samples using 3 keywords per sentence (which teaches outlining skills necessary for lectures). Then writers re-construct paragraphs from their outline, only this time using your own words. Various "dress ups" allow writers to embellish and improve their writing (which reinforces parts of speech in a practical way). The system covers both fiction/nonfiction writing and can be used with anyone at any level who wants to improve their writing. For those using this in an educational setting, there are DVDS of the teacher teaching students of various ages or you can just use the seminar and original DVDs to get the gist. Highly recommended. If you purchase this, you do need to buy or borrow the DVDs that accompany it or it won't make sense.
