Book Review: "Tempted" is a Disappointing Slog through a Mire of Teenage Feminine Angst & Superfluous Exposition
Summary: 2 Stars
Whoever made the poor decision to release this manuscript as its own book should be fired, reprimanded or lashed with a whole potful of wet noodles. There is not enough action/plot to justify spending any of your hard-earned (or your parents hard-earned $) money on this book. (And assuredly, do not purchase the audio version which is read by an actress who makes Zoey sound like a ten-year old.) In this book, Zoey's normally entertaining posse turn into two-dimensional stereotypes and any intelligent depictions of either males, teenagers or gay people goes entirely out the window. Rather than providing us with a gripping thriller that raises the stakes and encourages us to want to know "what happens next", until the final chapters, this outing by P.C. and Kristin Cast is a frustrating and disappointing waste of time, money, energy and paper. Spoiler alert: In a nutshell, Stevie Rae exercises her Messiah complex and imprints with a Raven Mocker. Zoey and the gang go to Italy and face the High Council who are trying to figure out if Kolona and Neferet are bad guys or Erebus and Nix Incarnate. Kolona kills Heath and Zoey's soul shatters and goes...somewhere...That's it. So, spare yourself the agony and let's hope that "Burned" is much better.
