Book Reviews of The 36-Hour Day: A Family Guide to Caring for Persons with Alzheimer Disease, Related Dementing Illnesses, and Memory Loss in Later Life (3rd Edition)Book Review: Informative Summary: 5 StarsThis book is very informative and gives resource information for you to get help as the dementia progresses. This book helps you to understand what is going on, that you do not have to do it alone and your loved one doesn't always understand what's happening to them. Great book, any questions or doubts or you're just not sure what's happening to your loved one, then get this book, a lot of your questions and concerns will be cleared up and you will know the steps to take.
Book Review: Concerned son Summary: 5 StarsThis is a well written and to the point book. The authors understand the subject and provide emotional as well as practical support.
Book Review: What a joy Summary: 5 StarsThis book carefully and sensitively explains a situation that is catastrophic for many families, and lets you know the range of things that could happen. It's sobering but at the same time uplifting because it lets you feel some power to understand and possibly change the worst parts of the outcomes. Some of the descriptions of persons' behavior with dementia are heart rending; the actual effect is that you think, however bad our situation is, there are others much worse. The book lets you preserve your sanity a bit as a caregiver or a family member, and also can be read by a person with dementia in the early stages. I'd highly recommend it as the best thing available to capture the essence of this unfortunate type of family crisis.
Book Review: Good Book Summary: 5 StarsAmazingly helpful book. Answered every imaginable question we had and then some. Explained a lot of the behavior we had been seeing and attributing to something else. Recommended to us by the social worker at the hospital and worth the time and money. If you're in this situation, you must read this book.
