This book is not for everyone. It is like reading a text book. I was very disappointed in the layout of this book and how difficult it was to use this book as a tool. The type of diet is not for most people. So, if you are looking to see what some people can do to increase their energy through eating this way, then go ahead and read it. I found that it is an unrealistic way to live and eat.
Book Review: 80/10/10 IS THE MUST READ BOOK FOR YOUR HEALTH Summary: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful book. For Dr. Douglas Graham, it is a labor of love. As Dr. Graham was writing 80/10/10, he was thinking, not about how much money he would make, but of all of us who would benefit from reading it and by following the tenets of eating the way Nature intended us to eat.
I've been on Dr. Graham's 80/10/10 (sometimes described by its devotees as "811") for two weeks. The results are very encouraging. I've lost weight safely and comfortably. I look better, feel better, and I smell better (as in zero body odor).
If you have health issues, buy this book. If you are eating dairy, meat, or poultry, buy this book. If you are eating any processed foods (soda pop, pastries, bottled juices, candy bars, etc.), buy this book.
If improving the quality of your life is your goal, buy this book. Read every word from cover to cover. Take Dr. Graham's teachings to heart. Follow his guidelines and put them to work for you. I promise you that you'll be glad that you did.
Book Review: 80/10/10 Low fat, raw vegan it is! Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned the book since it first came out, having ordered it pre-publication, and have a nice hand-written comment by Dr. Graham in the
front of the book.
The 80/10/10 Diet is based upon living in harmony with Nature's design. As other reviewers have pointed out, Dr. Graham does an excellent job of explaining why that is so. Working (writing?) in combination with Laurie Masters' wonderful editing skills, the book is a true winner!
What may not be obvious from the title or from the other reviews is that this is a diet that works! Works for what? Works to allows the body to rebuild itself, cell by cell. Eating fruits and shoots (or whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic or better...), in combination with the other 31 Fundamental Elements of Health, as outlined on p. 10, is a proven method of building Health.
And I loved the outright, upfront honesty of the statement describing this diet: "This radically different view is unpopular, because it does not generate any revenue. The 80/10/10 approach uses no repeat products, no supplements, no high-priced, elitist 'superfoods'. 80/10/10 uses a simple grocery-store approach to nutrition that brings this program easily into the grasp of everyone." (p.11) Works for me! and it has!
I see this book as an excellent investment in my health, and a grand addition to my health library.

Book Review: 80/10/10 is working for me Summary: 5 Stars
Within one month my cholesterol is down 30 points. Now, at 3 months, I've lost 15 pounds and feel soooo much better. I enjoy all the fruit. Once in a while I miss hot meals, like pasta. And Thanksgiving is just ahead, and I want all that beautiful fat, but I feel so much better, I have to carry on.
The book is truly a life saver.

Dr Graham follows his own advice, How novel. The program that he proposes is livable. And the benefits are far greater than he leads you to believe. Get involved in your own life and start living to your potential.
