The A-List by Zoey Dean is an excellent book for relating a message about life and succeeding in your goals you set for yourself. This book takes place in the zip code of 90210 in Beverly Hills, California. A young teenage girl hopes and wants to change her lifestyle to more outgoing, fun, and sensitive. Readers will enjoy reading about Anna Percy and the life she wants to lead in this thrilling book and want to continue by reading the rest of the sequel.
The main character, Anna Percy, flies from New York to Beverly Hills to stay with her father. She falls in love with Ben Birnbuam on the plane ride to Beverly Hills. Anna hopes that this is her chance to prove that she isn't shy and she can be fun, outgoing, and sociable.
Anna runs into Cammie, Sam, and Dee, who are flat out jealous of Anna getting all of Ben's attention and plan to ruin every moment that Anna is with Ben. In one conversation the girls clearly tell Anna, "We are A-List, and no one steals our spotlight." Anna knows these girls are not who she enjoys hanging out with, but distracting her from being herself and outgoing.
In one scene, Anna meets her father for the first time since arriving in Beverly Hills. Anna finds her father hung over Cupid's feet in the family gazebo and shockingly finds out that her father is using marijuana for his headaches. He hasn't been a good father since he divorced Anna's mom when she was very young. Anna is afraid of getting close to her farther frightened at the outcome.
This book shows and explains to readers on how to set goals in life and accomplish them without distractions. Anna Percy has a goal to make herself open, outgoing and a better person. In my opinion this book was very imaginative, interesting, and electrifying because of the attitude and tone Zoey Dean wrote in. The author has a place for you in this story, as another character in fact, making you want to jump into the book and help solve the situations that arise.
