Jasmine and James Cinque are back and it has been three months since their world came crashing down around them when a sexual escapade went terribly wrong. James and Jasmine are trying to put their household back together for the sake of their young children. But soon lies and distrust make it difficult for this couple to get things right again. Monica is still not giving up and she will do anything in her twisted mind to get rid of James so she and Jasmine can be together. Monica had better watch out because an old flame from her past is seeking revenge and will stop at nothing until they get it.
The Aftermath is a perfect sequel to Anna J's first novel My Woman, His Wife. What I liked about this novel is that it picked up right where the first novel ended without interruption. I also liked how this author gave us more background information on Monica in this story. You really see the reason why Monica grew up to be such a cold and vindictive woman. Monica is so evil that readers will keep flipping the pages just to see if she'll get the payback she deserves. The Aftermath is filled with all of the spice and drama that readers from Anna J's previous novel come to expect.
