Book Reviews of The Appeal

Book Review: Disappointing
Summary: 2 Stars

This is my first Grisham book. While I didn't exactly hate it, I didn't like it much either. I honestly could have tossed it to the side and picked up something else and never cared enough to pick it back up. It was very reminiscent of Erin Brockovich, but darker. As well as Grisham's books have sold, I hope his past efforts are better.

Book Review: Disappointing
Summary: 1 Stars

I've been reading John Grisham's novels for years. I bought THE APPEAL at Christmas and was looking forward to reading it. After the first chapter of one-dimensional villains and good guys, I had second thoughts. After about chapter four, I couldn't believe this was the same John Grisham. At chapter six, I pitched it in the garbage - how PC can you GET? Yuck!

Book Review: Disappointing
Summary: 2 Stars

As other reviewers have stated, the ending was hastily wrapped up as if the author was just tired of the story. I long for the Grisham of old; Pelican Brief, A Time to Kill, and so many other great ones.

Book Review: Disappointing...
Summary: 1 Stars

I have enjoyed numerous John Grisham books in the past, however I was disappointed in this one. The APPEAL is Appalling! John Grisham preaches the need for judges to rule according to law without bias or agenda, while simultaneously screaming his bias and agenda through the story and its characters. I will have reason to pause before reading another Grisham book in the future.

Book Review: Don't bother
Summary: 1 Stars

I have a bone to pick with Amazon...why can't I give this "novel" zero stars?
First off, its his usual formula of handing off a quickie ending that's a downer for everybody but the "bad" guys who unjustly triumph over the "good" guys.
Did I mention all characters are black or white with no in between?
At least we know he doesn't like chemical companies, Christian conservatives who are "family value" folks, folks who think there's some value to protecting the Bill of Rights especially the Second Amendment, and "outsiders" from "up North".
I don't know if he's gotten lazy or what, but I'm not wasting my time on his next effort.
