Book Reviews of The AppealBook Review: Dont waste your time Summary: 1 Stars
I have read about 10 Grisham novels and enjoyed all of them. I'm not sure if this book was an experiment for him or what, but people read fiction for entertainment, not for political points to be made. We get enough of that in everyday life.
I would highly recommend other Grisham books, but stay away from this one...
Book Review: Ending So Disappointing; This is Only Worth Reading for the Insight Into Judicial System Summary: 3 Stars
The ending on this was majorly disappointing, and overall it didn't have the 'edge of your seat' feel that the best Grisham novels do. For me, the most interesting part was learning about how judges gain their seats in different states - in some states by appointment, in others by election - and in the latter case, how exactly an election can be bought. Read it for the election insights, not the thrill.
Book Review: Enjoyable, but not sure about the ending.... Summary: 3 Stars
I don't want to give anything away, but this novel follows many of Grisham's previous books....A great story, starts off well and then just ends....At first I hated the ending, but after a few days, realized maybe it just makes sense......
Book Review: Entertaining Summary: 4 Stars
While this is not as good as The Firm or A Time To Kill, The Appeal is a typical Grisham story...very entertaining. My husband found a new legal thriller author, and I loved his work in The Fraud
Book Review: Entertaining If Not Spectacular Summary: 4 Stars
Intersting story about big business and how they get away with murder. Although the details seem somewhat exaggerated, I am sure this story portrays many corporations. Some intersting subplots involving all te lawyers and the different worlds that plaintiff and defendant face. Maybe not on the level of Grisham's earlier work, but this is an entertaining read in spite of a large emphasis on the election of the Supreme Court Judge. Definitely some intrigue into the man's decisions especially the last two.
