Book Review: Very Very Good, Like the first one... Summary: 5 StarsIn Artemis Fowl, Artic Incident, it is about a very intelligent boy, Artemis Fowl. He is from a rich family who have barely gotten their money in a honest way. He tricked the fairies into getting their gold from them. Most of that money was being used to search for his long lost father. Finally he got a video e-mail from the people who captured his father. After a long time not getting any word from his father, this was very exciting to him. It was untraceable and Artemis was left not knowing who it was. The fairies had a mystery to solve. They found goblins using weapons that had human batteries running them. This could mean some fairies were working with humans which means that the whole world could soon find out about fairies. This was a hard mystery. Immediately, they thought it was Artemis Fowl. They asked him to come with them and they read their minds. It didn't match. Then they asked him for help. He accepted in switch of them helping him and Butler out to rescue his father. They found out that someone from inside was involved in this scheme, but who? They went to the Arctic to try to rescue his father. Their placn was to capture one of the kidnappers and talk to him to find out more on the ransom. A goblin hit team was sent to kill Holly, Root who are the fairies, and Butler and Artemis. They had guns that worked but the fairies had guns that were sabotaged. The goblins shot at them and hit above the group. They hit the mountain side and a pile of snow and rocks fell onto the group. Butler used his good reflexes to throw Holly and Artemis to safety. Root barely made it, but Butler became buried in snow. They dug him up and healed him with their power. They canceled the rescue mission. Foaly, the centuar who was the person who looked over the group was captured. The fairy Cudgeon was one of the leaders of the plot to overthrow Root. Also OPal Kaboi was involved too. She was the one who invented many things and put in the LEP guns a sabotagable thing. They were the leaders. Foaly was captured. Then he would be framed and Cudgeon the hero. Then he would take over the world. Will he succeed? Find out by reading the book Artemis Fowl Arctic Incident. I liked the excitement of the book. It is a fantasy book which makes it that more funner to read. I like the cunningness of Artemis Fowl. I like his wit, his ability to stay a step ahead of most things, and his intelligence. I enjoy reading about Butler. I wish I had a bodygaurd like him. My favorite part was when Artemis Fowl was watching Mulch do his robbery work. Mulch would show him the works of the trade of stealing and opening safes. Artemis learned a lot from him and became smarter in a bad way.
Book Review: Back and Better Than Ever Summary: 5 StarsFull of wit, magical technology, and a lot more action, this sequel to Artemis Fowl is just what you've come to expect of Eoin Colfer. Old characters return: Mulch Diggums(now living-and stealing-in LA), Trouble Kelp and his brother Grub, Foaly, and (briefly)Chix Verbil. A few new villans and some fairie politics keep the plot fast and furious, while Artemis (fresh from boarding school) and Butler team up with Holly and Comander Root to stop a smuggling ring. Oh, and rescue Artemis's father, MIA two years ago in a darkly humerous explosion aboard a cola-carring ship. The book itself is a work of art,and although this one lacks the gnomish code along the bottom, the cover is exceptionally well done.
Book Review: Colfer discovers soap operas Summary: 3 StarsWhen I first received this book, I was more then excited. I thought that it would be a book that you could lose yourself into-one that wasn't too serious that the author couldn't make jokes and had a plot that always had a high on the suspense level. To put it lightly, when I finally read it, this wasn't the book I was expecting. It seemed to be hastily written (at least compared to the first book), and was amazingly tedious. Although it truly wasn't so horrible, if you put it next to some of the other books you can find, it was only moderately good. I believe that Eoin Colfer had TRIED to explore more emotional depth in his characters, yet he failed miserably. Three stars for effort!
