Book Reviews of The Art of War

Book Review: ART OF WAR
Summary: 4 Stars

If you are interested in strategy for business, sports, or other situations in life, then you may want to pick this book up. It takes some will power to read this book because the first half of the book is a history of the author and how the writings have been passed down through the years. I recommend this book to someone with time on his or her hands and am interested in strategy situations.

Book Review: Absolutely Excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent book that explains war in layman's terms, and provides an excellent portrait of Chinese history and military thought both Ancient and Modern (thanks to extensive prefaces and appendixes). With this excellent translation, nothing is left cryptic. There's no wonder why this edition is still by far the most popular even after 15 years, but the book would be good in a lesser degree no matter who translated it.

Read it today!

Anyone who would give this edition a bad review or dislike it is obviously not headed for any significant position in life.

Book Review: An Ancient Text That's Still Applicable Today.
Summary: 4 Stars

When you hold this book in your hands and read it, it's hard to believe that it was written such a long, long time ago. It easily could have been written in the present time if not for all the references to ancient wars and, warriors. The thing that is even more amazing is that, most of the strategies still are applicable today. Weather in personal life, corprate life or, on the battle field, the writings of Sun Tzu ring true and, hold you on course.
A most enjoyable worthwhile read.

Book Review: An all time Great
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the ultimate guide to war,and although most of its premises seem like common sense, it is amazing how many times in history they have been ignored. Definitely an ingenious look at strategy that still holds true today. Give this book half the chance, and you stand to gain a lot. Don't read it and you're missing an opportunity of a lifetime.

Book Review: An excellent book
Summary: 4 Stars

Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" is a great book. I have found it to be very helpful. I have applied some of the principles to sports, and it has helped very much. The principles that Sun Tzu discusses are mostly very simple. The ideas behind it though, if applied properly, could help anyone to achieve their goal. The principles can be applied to any field imaginable. The book was written in China around 500 B.C. This still does not mean that it is out dated, far from it. The principles in fighting a war still remain very similar. Sun Tzu is a military genius. His comprehension of what it takes to win a war will probably never be matched. I would recomend this book to anyone interested in being a leader. This is not just for military leaders either, but for someone who wants to be a leader anywhere. This is a must read for anyone.
