Book Reviews of The Art of WarBook Review: Brilliant Summary: 5 Stars
I have to say that this is a wonderful source for military tactics and how to wage a war. Sun Tzu is indeed very perceptive and intelligent, and he does an excellent job of simplifying the concept of war and breaking it down for the average person to enjoy. Even today it is relivant and intresting, and it is very thought provoking.Throught history, China is an exception to all nations inthat it managed to stay together and perserve itself throught thousands of years and stay in the same shape despite conquoring and the world around them. No wonder they managed this with brilliant people like Sun Tzu around . And for those who did not like it becuase it was just about war tactics and was a little dry, well, what were you expecting? This is called "the Art of War". Take note of the word "war" in the title. That must mean it is about war! It does not take a genius to figure that out.
Book Review: Brilliant, A must for anyone. Summary: 5 Stars
Were do I start. The book was incredable. Throughout the entire book, I found meanings, not just for military matters, but for life in general. In my humble opinion, it should be required reading students EVERYWERE. I can not complement it enough.
Book Review: Broadening Your Perspective Summary: 4 Stars
War is not really based on honor... or glory, or even whose right. It's all about conditions, who has the advantage and how to dishearten your opponents while making sure your own resources are protected. It tells you what to look for through hundreds of various quotes and snippets of advice. This book was not entirely by Sun Tzu, but a collection of famous tacticians through-out history. Each seem to add another element to the concept of how to win in conflict. In life, you can see a little of this in each day... but just remember not too get too carried away. After all, even Sun Tzu himself said 'A battle not fought, is a battle won.' For broadening your perspective, I'd suggest adding this book to your collection as well as 'Open Your Mind, Open Your Life: A Little Book of Eastern Wisdom' by Taro Gold.
