Book Review: Primarily a political perspective of the war
Summary: 4 Stars
Presumably reissued in paperback to capitalise on the success of STALINGRAD, this a worthwhile, but less readable book. It concentrates on the political struggles that led up to the war, dominated its conduct, and largely dictated its outcome. The internecine squabbles of the Republicans in particular are difficult to follow, but central to a study of what is generally a little known conflict.However for the students of Spanish, or European 20th century history, this is a valuable and scholarly work, shedding light on crucial if little understood conflict.
