Book Review: Made my photos better!

I bought this book a few months ago, and have read every word, and keep going back to re-read vital points. The Better Photo Guide to Digital Photography is well-written and easy to read, not full of tech-talk or jargon (perfect for me, a real beginner). The book also walks you through everything - from how to learn what your camera can do, to composition, to technical aspects of exposure. The guide focuses on how to take good photos rather than how to edit them later; the author states that you should shoot as if you weren't going to edit later - guaranteeing that you get the best shot from the start.
Especially helpful to me is that each photo in the guide includes meta-data - the shutter speed and f-stop, etc... so you know how certain effects were acheived.
Really the best photo guide I own.

A year ago, I received a digital camera for Christmas and there was so much to learn about the camera that I felt overwhelmed. However, once I read Jim Miotke's Better Photo Guide To Digital Photography, I was able to understand everything that I needed to know in order to produce incredible photos with my digital camera. The book is laid out in an organized format which makes it easy to read and easy to understand. The author gives an assignment after each topic is presented in the book so that the photographer can apply what he/she has learned. This book has awakened a passion in me to start my own photography business! Jim Miotke should have called this book the Best Photo Guide to Digital Photography!Book Review: Simply Outstanding

Thanks Jim for a Great book. This book takes you back to the basics and gives great photography tips. I pick it up all the time just for review. I would recommend it for ALL photgraphers, new & old. He simplifies every detail to be a better photographer. If you haven't visited his web site, try it. www.betterphoto.com ,but a warning it can be addictive! I can't wait for his next book. Being a beginner, this book really gave me insight on photography tecniques and how to take a better photo. It explained f-stops aperture, white balance, composition etc. so I could understand it. The assignments given in this great book also helped me put it all into "focus". I highly recomend this book to anyone interested in photography as well as going to Jim Miotke's website, www.betterphoto.com to learn more.
