Book Reviews of The Birth Book: Everything You Need to Know to Have a Safe and Satisfying Birth (Sears Parenting Library)Book Review: EXCELLENT Summary: 5 StarsI read this book before I had my baby, which is what you should do! It was an excellent resource for mothers who wish to have the most satisfying birth possible! William Sears wants women to know that their bodies are MADE to give birth, and if you follow your instincts, and do what you feel is best, you can have the birth that you would have never expected could be so good! My first child came after 7.5 hrs of labor, 20 minutes of pushing, and NO epidural! I did the breathing that I learned in birthing classes, and followed my instincts about what felt good. When you follow your instincts, your birth can be as satisfying as mine! He also talks about times when labor cannot go as planned, and different types of drugs used to ease the pain. VERY EXCELLENT resourse, I recommend this for EVERY pregnant woman!
Book Review: Peaceful Births Summary: 5 StarsThis book I give all the credit to why I was able to give birth naturaly to my last 2 children. All my friends and family who are expecting borrow this book from me! It offers clear concise information on all aspects of labor and delivery that's easy to understand. I wish I had this book for my first child. I felt very prepared and relaxed after reading this book. A MUST HAVE for expectant mothers, new and "pro's". You will not be disappointed.
Book Review: GREAT BOOK!!! Summary: 5 StarsThis book is exactly what I was looking for. It is thorough and informative, presenting many birthing options with their pro's and con's.
Book Review: Very empowering! Summary: 5 StarsI received this as a gift and along w/ all of the other books and magazines I received during my pregnancy I didn't think I'd have time to read it, but I picked it up and was hooked on what the book had to say. Like any first time mother, the thought of childbirth was both exciting and terrifying. This book truly empowered me and gave me the courage and reassurance that I can do it! ... and is honest about what can happen and what your options are. At my birthing class, the instructor asked what books we had been reading and I mentioned this one. She said it was her favorite book by far. How's that for an endorsement? The authors offer a great perspective as parents of 8 children with different birth experiences and also as medical professionals. I think every first time mom should get a copy.
Book Review: A Great Read! Summary: 4 StarsThis is a good one. It is one of of our required reading books for the Bradley classes that I am taking and I see why. It is a great overview of what you can expect when you are in labor. Unlike many of the books I've read on this topic it wasn't strongly biased. They give you the information and allow you to form your own opinion.
