Book Reviews of The Birth Book: Everything You Need to Know to Have a Safe and Satisfying Birth (Sears Parenting Library)

Book Review: A Great Read!
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a good one. It is one of of our required reading books for the Bradley classes that I am taking and I see why. It is a great overview of what you can expect when you are in labor. Unlike many of the books I've read on this topic it wasn't strongly biased. They give you the information and allow you to form your own opinion.

Book Review: Helpful
Summary: 5 Stars

As with all of these types of books certain areas are focused on more than others and some things are completely missing but in general this one was a good read and very helpful.

Book Review: The one book you should have!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this book!! Every woman who is expecting a child should read it. The authors inform readers about all aspects of birth and they educate you so that you can decide on the right choices for you. The authors believe that a well informed mother will have a better birth experience with little surprises. So do I! I will not be so fearful of labor when the day finally arrives!!

Book Review: Get this one
Summary: 5 Stars

The Birth Book provides well balanced information that women *and* their support people need to be educated consumers of birthing medical care. (Keep in mind that any childbirth could potentially land a woman in the hospital.)

In contrast, "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth" put me overly on the defensive and didn't reflect standard practices in my region anyway (or perhaps it's out of date?). The Lamaze class --really a general prepared childbirth class -- at my hospital didn't accurately reflect the consequences of medical intervention.
The knowledge I gained from this book made my childbirth experience much less stressful than it would have been otherwise.

Book Review: Wonderful Book, Wonderful Author
Summary: 5 Stars

You really need to read this book. It is a trusted guide written by an author with a normal approach to birth!
