Book Review: ... and God said to Crumb, Illustrate My Book
Summary: 3 Stars
Not exactly what I expected. I had hoped Crumb would take a more liberal view to Genesis, but he follows the stories explicitly. The graphics are fun but tend to blur together after awhile since here too he follows a conventional format. Whatever bit of humor can only be read in the expressions on his characters, particularly that of Sarah when she learns she will bear a child of Abraham after 90 some years of infertility. This is certainly not Crumb's best effort. I find The Wolverton Bible and the incredible Lynd Ward woodcuts much more visually appealling.
