Book Reviews of The Breastfeeding Book: Everything You Need to Know About Nursing Your Child from Birth Through Weaning

Book Review: Good reference for breastfeeding
Summary: 4 Stars

1. All this info is in the baby book by the Sears.
2. It is all good info. Yes, there are always a few things I don't agree with or don't care for, but overall it's good.
3. It gives references to the LLL.

*** Moms, get over feeling guilty because of a book. The book is there to give you good info. Read it. Do your best. ASK HELP FROM THE LLL OR A LACTATION CONSULTANT.

Book Review: Too preachy
Summary: 3 Stars

I share the same sentiments as "GadgetChick" does in her review. Be prepared for a guilt trip when you read this one. However, if you can cast all that aside, then it does provide you with some useful practical information (which is why I did give it 3 stars) - but a lot of that information you can alson find for free online and in pamphlets provided by various organizations. I would not buy spend money on this book if I had to do it all over, but it would be worth a borrow, or if you could find it used for relatively cheap.

Book Review: Great reference book
Summary: 5 Stars

Everytime I had a question about breastfeeding, I could find an answer in this book. It gave me confidence when I was felt like I was doing it all wrong. It's a little repetitive at times, but that just reminds me of something I may have forgotten.

Book Review: Even if you think you know it all.....
Summary: 5 Stars

My hubby laughed at me when I bought this book. Isn't breastfeeding completely natural after all? Having watched a sister breastfeed all 8 of her kids how could I not know what to do? Alas, I bought the book & read it cover to cover and DID learn things I didn't know. I know most new moms have a frustration period at the beginning of breastfeeding and this book will be my guide to overcoming that and possibly avoiding it alltogether.

Book Review: The Breastfeeding Book: Everything You Need to Know About Nursing your Child from Birth Through Weaning
Summary: 5 Stars

By Martha Sears, R.N. and Dr. William Sears

I would recommend this book and all of the Sears books! Martha nursed all eight of her children including her adopted child. Martha speaks to the reader and offers great advice on getting a baby to latch, increasing milk supply, and working through mastitis, engorgement and other issues that arise when nursing. The advice in the book covers everything from the first latch to going back to work to weaning. All advice is provided without judgment or guilt. Martha provides the facts and you decide what works best for you and your family.

Martha offers insight and comfort to the new mother. This is a great book for the new mother. You will use this book over and over throughout your time as a nursing mother.
